Barley Mow Interior Renovations
West Reading, PA
Project Overview
The Barley Mow Craft Beer House was looking to expand their space to accommodate more guests and grow their services. Their existing space was originally half of a duplex building; Burkey demolished the existing wall between the two sides of the duplex to create a double-sided bar and increase circulation between the two spaces. With this opening, the structural design called for a substantial steel column and steel channels to support the load of the wall above. These were left exposed to create an industrial feel throughout.
The front porch was outfitted with a full glass overhead door that opens up to connect the interior space to the brand new, wraparound paver patio on the front and side of the building. This patio ties into the existing beer garden at the building's rear. The final touch of this project was the small addition off th eback to accommodate the desired kitchen space.
